Lone Pine Lives Again
Last year one of the devastating consequences of the April storms was the destruction of the Lone Pine, planted in the Memorial Grove in 1966.
A new pine, a seedling proudly cultivated by the Newcastle City Council nurserymen, has been planted just in time for the 2016 Anzac services. Along with a new flag pole and improved access and seating, hundreds are expected to attend the Sunset service on Sunday, April 24th at 5.15 p.m.
It has been arranged by the War Memorial Grove Preservation Group, in co-operation with returned service organisations.
